What is a Seed Library?

A seed library is an institution that lends or shares seeds for the purpose of preserving plants and supporting local gardening.

Who Can Use the Seed Library?

Anyone is welcome to take seeds from the seed library!

Why a Seed Library?

Seed libraries help promote sustainability, self sufficiency, food security, and community. The intention is to support our community by nurturing local gardeners and seed savers. Seeds contain great potential for physical and cultural sustenance.

How to use the Seed Library

The Seed Library is self serve. You are welcome to take up to 3 packets of seeds per visit. Please follow this limit to ensure that this resource is available to all. Seeds do not need to be checked out or returned. Patrons are highly encouraged to donate harvested or purchased seed packets. This is how we acquire seeds to share with the community.

How to Save Seed

The Seed Library is a free program committed to increasing our ability to feed ourselves wholesome food. We offer seeds and education. Through the time-honored tradition of seed saving we celebrate biodiversity, nurture locally adopted, organically grown plant varieties, and foster community resilience, self-reliance, and a culture of sharing.

The Seed Library operates on the honor system. You become a member when you withdraw seeds to plant. WE encourage all members to learn basic seed saving techniques so you can return seeds to the library. That will allow us to keep the library stocked. If you are unable to save your own seeds. please donate a packet or two of fresh commercially grown, open-pollinated (nonhybrid, nonGMO) seeds to our library.
