Highway Drive
By Sidney Carpenter
The old west knew.
Cowboys & settlers roaming through,
That this area would be the soul.
With land and hills that roll.
The sunrise on 165
Makes you feel alive.
A slower driving pace,
From the 281 race.
The heart of tiny towns
& Bluebonnets on the ground.
If only for a little while,
You just might smile.
That Lone Star feeling,
Aren’t we so lucky . . .
It’s a spiritual healing,
To drive the Hill Country.
