Message from Missy Atwood, DSCL Board President:
The Board has made significant progress on a critical long-term goal: building a new, expanded library facility that will serve Dripping Springs for generations to come.
The new facility will be located at the end of Benney Lane, a cul-de-sac off Mighty Tiger Trail. This is adjacent to the library’s existing property. The new property will allow the library to expand its overall footprint to 5.5 acres. That larger footprint will support a facility projected to be 38,000 square feet, which is more than four times larger than the existing facility.
“This is an exciting moment for the entire community,” says Board President Missy Atwood. “This larger facility will provide more opportunities for great learning expierences for families and their kids. It will provide anyone starting a business with critical resources and free high-speed Wi-Fi. It will offer critically-needed meeting space for community groups — and more room for collections.”

The Board hired PGAL and 720 Design, two architectural firms working together that have done significant work with libraries in Texas and nationally. They guided us through our highly attended community input meetings and a community-wide survey. 720 Design, an interior design and planning firm dedicated to the development of modern library spaces, has delivered plans for initial programming and interior layout that reflect the community’s input.
“The community affirmed our beliefs that we will need outdoor program spaces and community study and meeting rooms,” said Library Director. “These will be a critical part of the plan moving forward.”
Plans for the site, exterior and interior design, and other enhancements will be available for public review and comment as soon as they are available later this year.
